1 Quantitative Research Analysis Louise Johnson Dr. Stephen Connor Rice
2 Scenario 4 A study has results that seemed fine, but there is no clear association to social change what is missing? A correlation test was conducted to determine whether a relationship exists between level of income and job satisfaction. the sample consisted of 432 employees equally represented across public, private, and no-profit sectors. The result of the test demonstrates a strong positive correlation between the two variable, r =87, p<.01, showing that as level of income increases, job satisfaction increases as well. Answer Sample Size When we look at the sample size in this scenario, it can be determined that the results of the sample size were small. The sampling did represent cases from the private, public, and non-profit sectors. When collecting quantitative data, the statistical formula will usually give a rough estimate of the sample size needed. When reflecting the difference between statistics and the population you will encounter error in the sampling. Errors occurs when the sample size is not an accurate representation of the population to avoid errors or minimized errors, it is recommended that the sample size be increase or conduct an interview of the population. Looking at the sample of n=432 which is a representation of the different sector of the employees this sample size if very little. When determining the validity of the research it is determined that income level always increases job satisfaction. To determine high variability a large sample is recommended and use a small sample size if variability is minimal ( Warner, R. M. (2012). Statements for Meaningfulness.
