In World War I countries used all resources they could including dogs. Dogs were used to carry messages that would be attached to their bodies. Germany had employed 30,000 dogs by 1918. It’s crazy to think about a dog on the battlefield. The spark of World War I was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife on the morning of June 28, 1914. There were many underlying events that caused World War I, but three important underlying events were alliance, industrialization , and militarism. One of the three underlying events that lead to World War I becoming such a big war was alliances. “There were at least 100 countries” according to http://www.history.com fighting a war, and countries had to choose their side. Countries used alliances for extra support. Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy were part of Triple Alliance until 1915 when Italy switched sides hurting Austria-Hungar. In Document E of “Cause of WWI Mini-Q” the image shows a German propaganda showing people that England is a monster.England is shown as a monster because of how big they were from land to population. Britain had square miles of 12,740,000 and a population of 400,000,000, the biggest population out of the eight main countries. However militarism is also an important underlying event in World War I. The warfare great increased. In the beginning of the war soldiers used gun powered guns at the end they used tanks and machine guns. “Great Britain spent the greatest percentage on its navy” according to Document C of “Cause of WWI Mini-Q” Great Britain's army spent about $90 million at the beginning of the war in 1914. At the end of the war countries have spent more than expected. Countries spent more because the warfare became more expensive since it's wasn’t just cannons and gunpowder
World War I was caused by several issues between European powers, the first being militarism, or the huge emphasis placed on having large and strong armies and navies. Germany is an example of militarism in WWI because Germany began competing with the British for having the largest navy in the world, as well as developing new weapons like poison gas and submarines, the latter being a great tool in surprise attacks. Militarism was also associated with the Romanticism of war; Europeans wished to fight so that they could become heros. The constant military build ups in several European countries left countries looking for alliances with other strong countries, in the event that war was to break out. Germany, Italy, and Austria created the Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente was comprised of Great Britain, France, and
World War I, a war that started out locally in Europe between Austria-Hungary and Serbia that later ended up including thirty two different nations. This war has been around for almost a century and yet the causes of it are still being debated. There are many different scenarios that have been considered. Some of the key reasons that were believed to have instigated WWI were nationalism, imperialism, militarism, and an arrangement of treaties. Also the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand was believed to be one of the immediate causes.
A major build up of armies in main countries resulted in the Naval Arms Race which was another main contribution to the war as it increased tension and more rivalry. The armies of Germany and France had more than doubled but it was Germany and England who were about to compete for the most powerful navy in the world the tension between the two nations had risen. Wilhelm’s dream of being an imperial ruler was about to come true, he had put his plans into practice and had built several powerful ships. The British saw this as a threat. In
World War I had occured between July 1914 and November 11,1918. The war had been caused by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. When a Serbian terrorist had drove by shooting him, and his family. Then when Austria-Hungary demanded reparations (amends), they declared war against Serbia. Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism and Nationalism had lead to the cause of World War I.
World War 1 was allegedly started by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne. This war led to majority of conflicts from July 28, 1914 to November 11,1918. Which was fought against the centrals powers and the allies.World War 1 had source of, Militarism, Allies, and Nationalism.
Another main cause of World War I was Militarism. For each country there was a big increase in military and naval forces. For each country there was a big increase in military and navel forces. The policies and government created a big influence on the military men and because of this, force was a alternative as solutions to problems. This is what made militarism one of the main causes of World War I. There was a rise in military influence on policy making after 1907, in countries such as Germany and Russia. During this period of time the German Army was known as a “state within a state”. Everybody in the government such as the parliament and politicians were required to follow the General staff. The war atmosphere was endangered. It was because of the secret alliances and that triggered a armaments race among all the powers. During 1900-1914 the race became very serious and the international situation became much worse then ever before. During these years there was a rise in army and navel estimates. There was so much military rivalry within countries competing for the
World War I was started by alliances with militarism and imperialism as aiding factors. Although, there are many more possible things that could have kept the war between Serbia and Austria-Hungary alliances was most likely the main reason why the war became widespread. This is not to say that having allies is a bad thing, but this goes to show how quickly things can get out of hand when blood is
World War I consisted of two different alliances, the Triple Entente and the Triple Alliance. The Triple Entente included Great Britain, France and Russia who was allied with Serbia. Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Italy were part of the Triple Alliance (Document 2). Germany also signed a treaty with the Ottoman Empire and Great Britain grew close with Japan creating other alliances (455). Alliance systems meant that war between two countries meant war between all.
World War I was fought in Europe between Germany, France, Britain, Russia, The United States, and many other countries. As one of the bloodiest wars in history, there were many underlying and fundamental causes. World War I was triggered mainly by a combination of imperialism, nationalism, militarism, and alliance systems between European countries.
World War I was also known as the Great War, or the War to End All Wars. This war took place from 1914 to 1918. World War I was sparked by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand on June 28th, 1914, although a war was inevitable due to the tensions between European countries. The three main causes of World War I were nationalism, militarism, and alliances. Nationalism initiated war because citizens felt that it was their duty to defend their country’s honor.
World War I was one of the most brutal battles in the world. World War I fought in Europe between Great Britain, France, Russia, Germany, the U.S, and others. However, the four primary and long term causes that set off this war are militarism, alliance building, imperialism and nationalism. Although these four causes were all significant during the war, the two I believe are the most important are militarism and alliance building.
The amount they spent increased dramatically throughout the years, (Doc C). For example, in 1890, Germany only spent around 30 million on their military and navy. Twenty-four years later, in 1914, Germany spent almost four times more, over 110 millions on their military and navy, (Doc C). Militarism is an important factor to WW1 because countries would invest in militarism to protect themselves from war and to attack threats.
One of the major causes of WW1 was Alliance. Alliance is when a country becomes friend with another country and supports each other. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, Russia got involved to defend Serbia. Germany seeing Russia mobilizing, declared war on Russia. France was then drawn in against Germany and Austria-Hungary. Germany attacked France through Belgium pulling Britain into war. Document 2 states, “members
After four years of trying to stay alive and killing people, World War I ended in November 11, 1918. There was an event that triggered the war to break out on June 28, 1914. The event that triggered the war was the assassination of Archduke Franz Fordincrd, that was Austrian. The Austria-Hungary gave the Serbian two demands to follow but they did not want to. The first one was to stop the group that assassinated him, and to let Austria-Hungary to send police into Serbia to investigate. The Austria-Hungary accused Serbia for the assassination of Fordincrd and his wife (Document 3). The causes of World War I is Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, and Nationalism.
Throughout history there has been competition for resources and domination. This competition has led to conflicts that have caused destruction, social disruptions and death. World War I was no exception to this competition. World War I was known as the war to end all wars and was caused by a combination of factors. Some causes of World War I was nationalism, imperialism, militarism, and the main cause which was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand by Gavrilo Princip of Serbia. While the United States attempted to remain neutral and stay out of the war, Germany choose actions that gave the U.S. no choice but to enter and help their Allies defeat the other powers.
