When hearing about the creation of Adam and Eve vs. Frankenstein, two different things come to mind. No one would think the two would have such comparisons. The similarities and differences of the two, cause life threatening consequences that both have to face. When reading the Holy Bible many people will question the creation of man. In the book of Genesis, God gives vivid readings of how earth and man came to form. Genesis 1:27 says, "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." God presented us with the first man on earth being created from dust of the ground, which was known to be Adam. Genesis 2:7 states, "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." God took only one out of the seven days to create man leading to the later on creation of woman, who we know as Eve. After the creation of man, God sent man to the Garden of Eden to make sure he was taken care of. The garden consisted of trees that were pleasant to sight, and which were good for food. In the midst of the garden, a tree of life and knowledge of good and evil was present. Once man had arrived, God commanded him to eat of every tree freely, except for the tree of good and evil. If Adam was to eat of the tree he was to surely die. God later on tells Adam that it was not good for man to be alone so he took one of his ribs and created woman. He had placed him
There are evident similarities between Victor Frankenstein and his creation. Both Frankenstein and his creation share a love for nature, a longing for knowledge, and a desire for companionship.
God and Dr. Frankenstein both gave life; They both accomplished the incredible task of bestowing life. They both used a body parts from anohter human to form another. God used the rib of Adam and Dr. used many body parts. Frankenstein knew that creation the monster was wrong and still went through with it. Just like Adam and eve knew that eating the apple from the forbidden tree was wrong, they both disobeyed God. Another way they similar is after Adam and Eve disobeyed God they ran and tried to hide from God. Likewise after Frankenstein realized that he had messed up the ran from his
In Genesis one and 2, it provides a full understanding of God’s creations and wisdom of human nature because it is free from evil. God created everything from nothing; to be perfect from his perspective. Human nature is revealed from Genesis one with God creating the Earth and the Heavens and creating the man of his likeness. The Bible explains how God created the man named Adam from the dust and was placed in the Eden’s Garden (Genesis 2:7). Adam helped God to take care of the land and all his creation. The Bible explains, Humanity was created to work and serve, keep the garden (Genesis 2:15). Subsequently, Eve was created; “God had created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him: male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27). Adam and Eve would help God because He wanted them to multiply the Earth by taking care of his creations (Hiles & Smith, 2014). God is the sovereign ruler which he created humanity as how he should have wanted. The Bible explains about human nature that God created everything to be distinct from animals and all His creation. Humankind is able to show on our nature because we are capable of reasoning. God created all differently and we were all born naked and pure as Adam and Eve were. God created in his own image that why we all look different; we are unique in His eyes. Also, God created us to be good because we are born innocent of all evil and loving God.
Though Victor Frankenstein and his creation both have qualities that are clearly monstrous, Victor’s selfishness, his abandonment of his responsibilities, and his inability to recognize his own faults and the monstrous qualities within himself qualities within himself make him the true monster while his creation is rather the opposite.
There are differences and similarities in the creation story of Adam and Victor’s creature. Victor Frankenstein and God created beings and put them in the world. Adam and the creature Victor Frankenstein created resembles each other because, they were alone, unique, and beings created. The creation of Frankenstein’s monster parallels the creation of Adam in many ways. First of all, both Adam and the monster were created because of love. God loved the world and He thought that he needs to create a human being who was to take care of the beautiful earth. The bible says that, God loved humanity and that is why he created man (Adam) in His image and put him in the Garden of Eden which had everything he needed (Gen. 2:7-9). Adam was placed in the Garden of Eden and warned not to eat from “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil". On the other hand, Victor was a human
I can compare Frankenstein to the movie I saw by Tim Burton, Frankenweenie. They are similar but instead of a human body, it was a dog and the mad scientist was a young boy named Victor Frankenstein. The young Victor Frankenstein brings his dog back to life after being hit by a car for a science fair project while the real Victor Frankenstein wanted to create a real life human. Just like the real Frankenstein monster, the dog brings trouble. In the book, the mad scientist, denies the monster but in Frankenweenie, the young boy convinces his family and friends to like his creation. Some of his classmates had known the young Victor Frankenstein creation and was intrigued to do the same experiment like his but it went out of the standards of
The book of Genesis records the creation of the world and everything in it, as well the early relationship between God and humanity. God creates man, Adam, “from the dust of the ground” (Genesis 2:7) and places him in a paradise on Earth called the garden of Eden, where he also places the tree of knowledge of good and evil. From the man, God creates a woman and tells them that they “may freely eat of every tree of the garden, but of the tree of knowledge of good and evil [they] shall not eat, for in the day that [they] eat of it [they] shall die (Genesis 2:16). Despite this warning, the woman, Eve, is eventually tempted to eat the fruit of the treat and convinces Adam to do the same, causing them to be cast out of the garden. Although Adam and Eve do have free will to do what they
In the Bible, the book of Genesis 1:27 states that "God created humankind in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." Creating both men and women in His image, God is the only person who can do this successfully, giving us unconditional love and never abandoning us throughout our journey in life. On the other hand, Victor Frankenstein, a young scientist creates a life form due to his love of natural sciences. His desire to create this life form only for an experimental purpose unknowingly leads to disastrous outcomes for both Victor Frankenstein and his creation, the monster. In Mary Shelley's novel, Frankenstein, the protagonist, Victor Frankenstein uses his knowledge
Frankenstein and Edward Scissorhands are both similar creatures with odd human characteristics that were never taught the ways of the human life, which made it difficult for them to fit in, adding on to what they look like and act already. In each story one person goes out of there way to help this creature, to make them feel accepted, but there was also much hatred put against these creatures punishing their innocence. “People are afraid of me because I am different”. - Edward Scissorhands. He was aware that people saw him differently, but he saw people like he saw himself and treated them all like family.
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth. After having created everything on Earth, He made man. “The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.’”(NIV Genesis 2:15). Thus, He made Eve from the rib of Adam. God told Adam and Eve not to eat from the tree of knowledge but the evil serpent, who was craftier than them, tricked Eve into eating the fruit. Eve later convinced Adam after having argued with him and he gave in. Both were punished by God for having gone against His word and would suffer the consequences of it. “So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. After He drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden a cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life” (Genesis 3:23-24).
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is a story about a man named Frankenstein who wants to understand the creation of life. He does not fail in understanding it and actually applies what he knows into making his own creature. However, the catch is that his creature is not anything as he imagines, he is far too physically deformed to be accepted as a good creature. Frankenstein abandons him and the creature takes on a life and mind of his own, but finds that no man will ever want to be around him. As the story separates the characters, the two come together and that is when one can compare and contrast them to each other. Thus, this story putting such opposite beings alongside each other makes room for ways they may be similar but also
In the Bible, on the sixth day of creation, God created all the land animals and humans. God created man in his own image. In the bible he formed man and breathed life into him. This first human was named Adam. After Adam, God created Eve. "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." (Genesis
American film has long served as a platform for religious discourse. Creating a context where existential issues and eternal questions can be explored, film is reflective of the cultural and religious sentiments of society. The genre of choice has changed overtime with horror, westerns and later on science fiction all contributing greatly to this collective, dynamic cinematic religion. Directors James Whale and Robert Wise in Bride of Frankenstein (1935) and The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) respectively, address the collective concerns of a nation regarding the role of God in a changing world. Times were destruction and devastation led to questions of is there even is a God? Furthermore in increasingly technological times the auteurs address the issue of creator verses creation. Each piece reconciles the relationship between creator and creation in different manners reflecting important cultural and religious sentiments of the time.
“Then the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul” (Genesis 2:7). The bible states that Adam was created first. God created Eve so the she can accompany Adam in the Garden of Eden. Lord took one of Adam’s rib to create Eve. “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” (Genesis 2:23). This verse explains that woman won’t exist if it’s not for man. Both Adam and Eve were told not to eat the apple from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. However, Eve was deceived by the serpent so she took the apple and give some of it to Adam. After this incident, people look at woman differently, they were blaming Eve for giving some of the apple to Adam. At the end, both of them doesn’t have any fault in this situation because they were just both deceive by the serpent to eat that
According to the book of Genesis it was stated that God created the world in seven days. As a result the heavens and earth and all their array were completed and on the seventh day God rested from the work he had undertaken. When the Lord God made the earth and the heavens there was no sign of life on the barren ground. From the dust of the ground and the breath of life he formed the man who will be known as Adam. The Lord God settled him in the Garden of Eden to cultivate and care for it and gave him the freedom of eating from any of the trees of the garden except the tree of knowledge of good and evil. For the purpose of giving Adam a helper suited to him God took out one of his ribs and he built it into a woman whom Adam will eventually
