Trump is a name with a lot of history and a lot of connotation that only continues to grow as Donald Trump runs his presidential campaign. With all the backing that he proclaims, Trump still shows alarming qualities for a man that could be rising to power. He shows inconsistency which alludes to a weakness of character that makes him a poor presidential candidate. He is widely known for his aggressive arrogant ideas, which appeals to come people, but major concern arises from Trump being unable to defend his own ideas and, when he is questioned about them, he turns tail and flip-flops his opinions. Being able to clearly and concisely present ideas and then defend them seems like an elementary concept of how to build a solid platform, yet it …show more content…
Before his presidential campaign Trump admitted that he was “pro-choice” but “hated the concept of abortion,” whereas now he is willing to make abortion illegal if voted into office (Berenson; “Abortion and 10 Other”). At one point Trump said that he was going to punish women for getting an abortion, which would mean that women who medically required an abortion could be legally punished for it (Vitali). Trump began advocating anti-abortion laws only after he was announced as a republican candidate which makes his opinion seem much less genuine and more strategical. Strategy is an important aspect in campaigning for a politician, but it crosses the line when one such as Trump begins to change his whole perspective on life to appeal to voters. Being president is about protecting lives and caring for your delegates, it is not just a race for numbers at the polls. Trump, with his present views on abortion, plans to defund the organization Planned Parenthood simply because they perform abortions. Planned Parenthood does so much more than just abortion, and Trump knows that, but he wants to take away all the amazing things they do for women because of the one issue as if he is highly convicted (Krieg). The whole issue of pro-life and pro-choice is not truly about abortion for Trump. He changes his position to fall into accord with the Republican Party and to gain supporters, but for the rest of the world, it is about protecting lives. Regardless of what side, the issue is about saving lives and protecting human rights. Trump appears to be apathetic toward any of that in the way that he flip-flops between the two sides. As possible future president, it would be expected for Trump to show how he cares for the
Planned parenthood is one of the largest abortion providers in the nation. Trumps say he respects woman and wants to take care of them. His remarks about Planned Parenthood are against I and do not support ending taxpayers funding have Planned Parenthood. “ I am against abortion … and that is a tremendous amount of the work they do said Trump. (Huff Post) Trump believes there is good aspects to this and that it can be considered in only certain situations. “We have to help woman” said trump (Fox News) During the interview in fox new he mentioned how he wants to help woman and try to look also at the positives of Planned Parenthood. This displays that trump might have reconsidered not funding panned parents hood. In another interview with
The 2016 Presidential Campaign candidate, Bernie Sanders, believes in creating a better America. In proving to the American people, rich and poor, how great the country can be if all people vote for who is trusted best as future President of the United States. The political figures in government care about money and wealth, not the people. Bernard Sanders would be the best choice for President for the main reason that he is concerned about the issues in America that create inequality for the people. The issues addressed by this candidate will create social and economic equality.
A few days ago, Trump stated: “The other, you’re gonna need a lot of Supreme Court justices, but we’re gonna be looking at that very, very carefully, but you need a lot Supreme Court judges. But defund yes, we’re going to be doing a lot of that.” (Donald Trump) Trump wants to hit the homerun and completely rid of any abortion in this country. While defunding Planned Parenthood would certainly save the government a half billion dollars, what is the cost that will come with that? When it comes to Roe v. Wade, it will take a ton of work for that piece of legislation to be overturned and I do not think it is a tangible goal for Trump. Recently, the Republican controlled Senate voted to defund Planned Parenthood but this obviously come with a ton of backlash from the public. I personally think that with Trump having an opposing stance to Planned Parenthood will hurt him in his efforts to become president. Women’s health is a very important issue in this country and according to USA Today poll, 58% of Americans would oppose any kind of defunding of Planned Parenthood. (USAToday.com) Even though I consider myself to be a “conservative”, I do believe that Planned Parenthood is integral for this country on supporting women’s health in the United States. Americans do not seem to mind helping to pay for Planned Parenthood and since that is the case,
I myself do not associate with the typical Republican Party values, however I bring myself to appreciate certain aspects of candidates. While I see plenty of comments on republican candidates, Donald Trump more often than not, it was at least an informative and interesting experience if not tolerable to see these opinions the American public has formed in action. Trump, for example, does not mince his words. While blunt truth may seem intimidating, at least he is one to speak his mind. However, his comments heavily outweigh an honorable character. One of the most offensive of details, which was brought up in a question rather than by Trump himself, was framed around him being offensive to women. There have been accounts of him calling women on twitter “fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals” on the basis of looks. On top of direct insult, Trump allegedly made sexually harassing comments on twitter, too. While a few of these questions have
I will oppose efforts to roll back women's access to reproductive health care, including Republican efforts to defund Planned Parenthood. As president, I'll stand up for Planned Parenthood and women’s access to critical health services, including safe, legal abortion.” The fact is that she says that abortion is safe, how is it safe? Its killing a helpless being, if you were to fall down some stairs, and ruptured your spine, doing so caused damage to some nerves including the ones that give you the ability to talk and respond, your family decides that taking care of you is more of a hassle than to have you murdered, you can’t do anything to stop it and have no choice in the matter, how is that different? If you don’t want to have a child, don’t have sex, and if you do then use protection, it’s not the baby’s fault that the father didn’t pay $7.50 for a pack of condoms. Trump believes that abortion is not right, he said at one point he was prochoice but more recently has said he was no longer
Trump seems to be changing up his story and even seeming to forget his stance on abortion. In 1989, Trump cosponsored a dinner that was honoring a former president of the NARL (a well known pro- choice organization) and later did not attend because of threats from pro-life supporters. Then again in 1999 Trump did an interview with NBC, he was asked about his stance on abortion and his answer was clear, “I’m very pro-choice.” Somewhere between 1999 and 2011 is where we start seeing inconsistencies in Trumps “personal” views. During the first presidential debate in 2015 he tells a story about a child that was going to be aborted but was not and how great the child is today. Implying that he has shifted more towards the pro-life side of the spectrum. Then later on in 2015 during a Jake Tapper interview for CNN, Trump was caught off guard when Tapper stated, “I know you’re opposed to abortion.” Trump responded, “Yes, I’m pro-choice.” Then when he was asked if he was pro-life or pro-choice he said, “I’m pro-life, I’m sorry.” Finally, in 2016, his ideas are fully radicalized and he is advocating punishment for women who chose to get
One might observe that American society values emotionalism over logical appeal, an observation that both of the presidential candidates have taken advantage of. In order to craft an effective speech, one should balance logical and emotional appeal, each supporting the other. Although Donald Trump’s speech was unbalanced in this area, it has proven to be quite effective. Mr. Trump is attempting to appeal to the audience’s desire for justice, vengeance, and protection, which they believe he will provide should he be elected into office. It is imperative that citizens of the United States take the time to critically analyze and ponder the words the presidential candidates are using. Words are a very powerful weapon; words can be used to both articulate and manipulate thought. In the political sphere specifically, words are often used with the intent of constructing one’s own reputation while also tearing down the opponent. The truth can easily be lost as politicians wage a war of words, which is why one must use discernment when choosing who they want to support. Mr. Trump is very skilled when it comes to capturing the attention of an audience, as the polls might indicate. It seems the amount of time and effort Donald Trump has invested into his reputation has paid
linton says in Hudson, New Hampshire, that voters face a "big choice," likening the primary election to a "giant job interview" over who best represents the kind of future Americans want.
It’s the close election that has ever happened in history. Yep that’s right Clinton vs. Trump running for president. The two has both very good backgrounds and amazing speechies, but only one can win. I am here to tell you about both Trump and Clinton and let you decide who should rule our country. I am going to start off with Trump. Trump is a very famous man he is known for having a game about himself. Trump is promising us that he will send all unborn mexicans back to there home town. Let me tell you all unborn mexicans come over here for one reason and one reason only to get things free. They get everything free and they come over here also for freedom. Trump is promising to ‘’make America great again’’. Trump said,
“Well, he’s just, he’s Trump,” said Maggie Meade at a Bush event last week. “I mean, it should be a word, right? ‘Oh, you’re such a Trump!’ ”
The U.S. presidential election of 2016 is one of the most discussed topics of the year. There has been a number of debates contrasting each of the presidential candidates between each other and with previous presidents such as President Barrack Obama. However, the most talked about candidate has been none other than Donald Trump. As well-known business man who was granted a great deal of money from his father, Donald Trump’s presidency campaign was a huge surprise to many people, as he was seen more as an entrepreneur rather than a politician. While speeches and campaigns continued throughout the year, there has been a huge controversy, as Donald Trump has a possible chance of becoming the next President of
Trump immediately knew his movement was complete, it had a voice, and a face but it needed one last ingredient... a soul and Trump unveiled it Friday night in Miami with his new visual "Deplorables" campaign theme.
(WENY) - Now as President Donald Trump has officially taken on the role as the leader of the free world, all eyes will be on what he does next.
Trump has been pro- choice since 1999 which means he believes it’s the women free choice to choose what’s best for her. But when he entertained the idea of running for presidential office he has changed his position in 2015. Donald Trump says that Planned Parenthood services are important but abortions and a lot of things are bad and must stop. He’s not afraid to speak the true that most candidates are in fear to point out. He’s quoted as saying “The biggest problem I have with Planned Parenthood is the abortion situation. I mean, it’s like an abortion factory, frankly”. Abortion is such a huge issue that requires delicate handling as far as the public’s options is, but he has no shame as to calling like he sees it. In fact he has shown that Planned Parenthood from 2009-2010 the abortions only accounted for 3% of all the services they offered. This has been a long standing issue in regards to how an election can be won or lost. Ever since Roe vs. Wade, abortion is always a political factor in the debating process. Trump has a tendency to speak what’s on his mind in how he plans on handling the issue when he wins the
His self-absorption has led to an obvious disregard for the American people, and his political agenda reflects such. He rarely looks to the American people for advice, despite the message that his campaign conveys to working class conservatives (Westfall, et al.). He has consistently changed his political views to better the public image most convenient to his latest business venture. To better fit his nominating party of choice, Trump changed his stance on many national issues. His position on abortion changed from pro-choice in 1999 to pro-life for his presidential campaign (Westfall, et al.). He went from boldly supporting a longer waiting period when purchasing guns to falling short of supporting increased background checks in the last year (Westfall, et al.). Finally, he has been quoted in support of the Iraq war several times, and now to save his image, he consistently denies this fact and replaces it with his own Trump brand honesty (Gilmore). The American people deserve a candidate who has stood by his or her principles, no matter the political climate. Now with the campaign coming to a close, Donald Trump has chosen his positions on the issues and must stand by them— unless he is
