My Responsibility to America How can I, and my fellow young adults, not be informed, this day in age, if we have such a glut of information available to us? That is to say, how can we be apathetic to the issues around us and not question their significance? Furthermore, how can we not strive to make the largest positive impact on society we can? These issues will be crucial in solving problems which may face America in the future. As a result, my responsibility to America lies in not only addressing these concerns for myself but also ensuring that my peers are able to address them, as well. Therefore, I hope to express my concerns, and then explain how, starting with myself, I could help alleviate these problems. My responsibility is, foremost, to be …show more content…
A lack of information lends itself to weak leadership, poor decisions and a disregard for actions on a global scale. “Resting on one’s laurels” is not anyone’s responsibility to America, yet future predictions say that this is a common activity. It is important that I start with myself in addressing these issues, as it will take a collective effort to ameliorate the problems which currently affect us, which will affect us, and which can be avoided in the future. If I do not take up my own responsibilities, then I cannot complain about issues in the future, nor can I fear for what will become of America, since I have a hand in this ongoing conflict. In regards to solving these issues, it all begins with me. Perhaps a single person cannot change the entirety of a nation alone, but he or she may lead to an inspiration and motivation for others. As a result, I must bear my own responsibility, and hope that I can be a model to others. I hope that I am able to inspire others to take part in the monumentally important tasks which will affect not only myself but also the world during our time and during our posterity’s
What is my responsibility to America? To answer this question I must first answer two others. What is responsibility? Oxford dictionary defines responsibility as the state of fact of having a duty to deal with something or having control over someone. This definition is exactly what I am trying to portray when explaining my responsibility to America. Our educators, soldiers, politicians, innovators, farmers, and businessmen have all had a duty since the birth of this nation. Second, what does America mean to me? When I think of this country the first thing that comes to mind is the first three words in the constitution, written by Thomas Jefferson over two hundred years ago, “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of
What is the role of the individual in helping to solve some of the problems we face in our society today? What are some of the problems we face in our society today? In today’s society we are currently facing ten major issues according to toptenz.net and should these problems be considered as individual or social responsibilities? “Now that we are well into the new Millennium society has begun to recognize serious concerns with issues that kids have to deal with today. Some issues have always been there but are now coming to the eyes of the public to find solutions. Other issues are new trends as society begins to adapt to a faster pace of life (Standberry).” Here are some of the issues facing our youth today: single parent households, drug/alcohol abuse, growing up to fast, and violence in schools, materialism, obesity, education disparity, shifting economy, and loss of national pride. So how do we fix just one of these problems, do we come together for a common purpose or do we stand alone and try to make a difference.
For the next three speeches, I am going to be educating, as well as encouraging you all to be more attentive, active, and vocal, when it comes to political and social issues. We’ve all been told that WE are the future, well there is some truth to that—Our generation is responsible for the future development of our country and that is something we need to take more seriously. I began looking into this topic before this class ever started; I looked up things so I, myself, knew what was going on. So, through more extensive research, I have gained a better understanding, and that is what I am sharing with
Thesis Statement: Today I want to bring to light a major problem in the united states of america and show you how we have the power to change this.
In today’s society, our focus on the problem solvers of the nation has deviated to only the problems in need of solutions. People of our generation now treat innovative thinking with contempt, and instead of drafting resolutions to issues, they grouse about all that is amiss. They perpetuate negativity during the tumultuous events we face and renounce those who speak out against them. But truthfully, those who speak out, those who rise up, those who refuse to succumb to this notion that nothing we can do affects where we end up - they are the real heroes. These individuals strive for change, without knowledge of personal gain or reward, regardless of who respects them in society.
“In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are untimely our own responsibility.” -Eleanor Roosevelt. We are held accountable to be an upstanding citizen and help the community. However, I feel as Christian citizens it's our responsibility to share the gospel of Christ to whoever we can and show the world a Christian perspective. Americans I believe our general responsibility is to say and know “The National Anthem,” pay tribute to those who serve or have served, and access the right to vote
This country was founded because brave men and women have been fighting for our country since its inception. They have been fighting for wars, yes, but also for social and political reform. These American heroes: veterans, social and political activist, and protesters have fought for everything that makes our country great. Our soldiers fought for our freedom and safety. Our activists have fought for our rights and gathered the people for change. Our protesters have fought to prove to the government we cannot be undermined. We owe these heroes past and present, progress. We owe them an America that strives to be the best for each and every citizen.
Today I will be addressing some of the issues that are happening in today’s society and set a plan as to how we as Americans have to come together for the better and make a change. This country has grown tremendously in many areas since we’ve experienced our last financial crisis. During our time of crisis there were many doubters who said that we could not make America great again and stating that we Americans were misguided. I believe that we have proved them wrong with the growth of the economy and deficits being cut by two-thirds. This economy has touched so many lives through the rise of wages and growing job opportunities. The goal here now is to aim at working on common concerns such as the criminal justice reform, finding a cure and having more studies for those battling incurable illnesses, and protecting our rights as American citizens.
Some individuals tend to dread the words “responsibility” and “commitment” in typical matters of life; however, when involved with their rights and their country, many exhibit a deep sense of patriotism. Responsibility and commitment carry a weight that many are unwilling to bear. However, many perceive that the patriotic responsibilities that protect and encourage our freedoms are worth defending. You observe this in those who willingly risk their lives, in those who use their careers for the betterment of others, in those who profess their beliefs despite opposing voices, and in those who uphold and obey the law. My patriotism begets my desire to serve my country. My fundamental responsibilities
My responsibility as an American is to improve our country by taking advantage of the opportunities given and utilize them to better our country for the generations to come. Everyone is given a chance to fulfill a purpose on Earth with the end result to hopefully leave it better than you found it. I believe as Americans we should not stop at just improving our nation, but go beyond the bar to help countries in poverty. Many forget what a huge privilege it is to be an American. Take advantage of where you come from and do something to honor America.
What can I really say my responsibility is to America? I’m just a 17 year old in high school. Yeah, I’m an American citizen and that is something to be proud of. I’ve never been in the military myself, but I’ve had many relatives in the service, which I’m very humble to say they’re apart of my family. Going into the service is not something I necessarily want to do. Although I will always represent America by being respectful and celebrating the freedom I have been given. My responsibility to America would be to represent the country in the best way I can.
I was born in Glendale, Wisconsin, I lived there for 6 years, me and my family were living in a really quiet neighborhood, I didn’t have friends from that neighborhood, that's where I got my shyness, I didn't go out with anyone only with my family, as a child, I never thought about going out and having fun, in another word I didn't care, my family would always try and take us places, that is why me and my parents are so close, I tell them everything, I never hide anything from them, when I'm annoyed and need someone to talk to I will always go and talk to my mother or father.
Each citizen of the United States of America has many responsibilities and many ways to fulfill those responsibilities. However, there are many people within this country that never take those duties seriously. We as Americans need to remember those who gave their lives to form and solidify the foundations of this nation. In addition to that, our freedoms are constantly being threatened, and in order to continue with our freedoms and way of life we need to be willing to fulfill our obligations to our country. There are an abundance of people who want access to the freedoms, but are never willing to fight for them or earn what they are given. America has always been a strong and respected nation, but there are
It is very important that in order have America prosper we must have citizens that are committed to keeping this nation safe and keeping it fair. I am at the present time that my responsibly to America is to help feed the nation, to educate myself, and to respect the public services that I am blessed with everyday.
Firstly, I have kept my political views off of Facebook for the last six months, however, this is an absolute disgusting display of mockery towards a state that is suffering from a natural disaster. I hate this man, I'm sorry, while representing this country he also displays everything that is wrong with this country. Not to say, there's nothing good, because there is, but he shares none of the qualities that should represent the United
