“Call of the wild” is the worst book I ever read in my life. It is hard to understand, especially when the people talk. Also I didnt know alot of words mean. My favorite chapter was chapter six. The worst chapter was chapter seven. My opinion about chapter one is that is was sort-a okay for the most part. I liked it when Buck is at his house in Santa Clara California. I disliked it when Buck got beaten and mistreated. what stood out to me was when the people poked Buck with sticks. Also when the man in the red sweater beats Buck with a club. My opinion about chapter two is that it worse than chapter one. I hated it when Curly died when she was just trying to be nice. I disliked it when Buck and Spitz got into a fight. I liked it when it said buck got stronger and smarter. I also liked it when Buck joined the other dogs to howl at the northern lights. I think chapter three …show more content…
The setting in the first chapter is sunny, Santa Clara, California. The setting at the end of the book is in the snowy, woods of Alaska. Call of the wild is a great book if your are interested in the whole outdoors adventure and survival.”Here is some examples of foreshadowing in chapter two and three, Buck and the team will start working together is that they were doing so much training in chapter two. The reason why I thought that Spitz and Buck are going to fight is because they got into a lot of other fights. The reason why I think Buck is going to learn how to steal food is because he saw Pike steal a whole piece of bacon and the story said, “He watched and learned.” Buck is going to stop hurting himself because it said, “His muscles became hard as iron and he grew callous to all ordinary pain.” And the reason I think Buck and Sol-leks will fight is because Sol-leks and Buck got into a fight before so I think they are going to fight again. That is what I thought about “Call of the
The parts of the book that I didn't like were how the author made Mark go through a lot of tough times, for instance, being sick, like I have already mentioned. But then again that is kind of what makes the book interesting.A good thing was that when we found out that Mark is going to climb a mountain, this, like I said before, makes you want to keep reading. Another good part about the book is that the author provides us a bittersweet ending, not a nice happy ending where the characters go to neverland and live happily ever after.
The call of the wild is about a dog named buck hat goes through many owners and then goes to the wild and joins a wolf pack. The central idea in The Call of The Wild is the way you treat animals can tell about you and your personality.
My favorite chapter so far was chapter five because Salamano tells Meursault why he bought his dog in the first place. That story made me so sad it was good to know the backstory. The rest of the book has very little emotion and that story is a nice change of pace and topic. That chapter ends with my favorite quote from the whole book so far. Salamano says, “I hope the dogs don’t bark tonight. I always think it’s mine.” I’ve read this quote over and over again and I think I like it because it shows such longing and disappointment. I wonder if Raymond feels the same way about the woman he
As the overall book, I actually kind of liked it because it was kind of hard to understand because they couldn’t use “I” and I like challenges. They had to use “We” instead of using “I” to explain they self or the story. The book was okay as a whole but still kind of hard to understand I got kind of irritated after a while, while I was reading the book because of the way it was written.
The first chapter goes back in history and sets up the story and setting. It was the eighteenth century and the Americans were beginning to invade the lands west of the Mississippi River. This caused problems because even though Americans saw the lands as an unoccupied
I believe that this was a pretty decent book, at times it was boring and
The chapters that describe the characters’ pasts make the reader feel as if they are watching that character’s personality develop over their lifetime even though it is only a couple pages. The most enjoyable part was the chapter over Herman Husband that tells about his entire past and how his beliefs and opinions were influenced. I was able to have a closer connection with this character because there was a lot of information given about him. Also because from the author’s perspective he was portrayed as someone brave and understanding. Which is why when the book ended there was a sadness to it, the readers could feel a sense of emotion for the man in the cell and a stronger effect left behind by his parting words. Another enjoyable moment was when the author described the rebels and how people felt when they finally saw them after they were defeated. It created a very vivid image that explained why the people watching felt a sense of disappointment at seeing them. There was a lot of depth over the characters and how each had their part in influencing the Whiskey Rebellion however Hogeland only briefly talks about the last battle of the Rebellion that led to the rebels being captured and forced to walk for miles. More information could have been added to give the reader a better understanding as to why exactly they may have lost or what led the most to their downfall.
I liked the book because it spoke about the wild and how you should push yourself through whatever your facing. I would recommend this book to anyone that would like to read it. Overall, my favorite part of the book was when he was living out in the wild and survive with just him and the dog, my least favorite part was when Big Darrell was stubborn and wouldn’t do anything with his grandson
I liked that the author leaves the reader to make some conclusions themselves but I thought that the novel was confusing at times because the Blackfoot names for animals were confusing and the author did not provide any major information about what the animals were. The novel was successful in character development, descriptions, dialogue, portraying the characters and developing the story.
Some parts of the book were exciting and I couldn't wait to find out what happened next but other parts did get boring. There is particularly offensive language used in the version that I read so I think that you have to be mature enough to understand why it is being used.
This first few chapters I thought were pretty neat. I wasn’t sure on how I was going to take this book, considering it was about dead people. I thought opening up with the first few chapters about one of the hardest parts of the body was nice. Roach explains how uneasy this was for her, and it would be the same way with
This is a paragraph about my most liked parts and most disliked parts in Call of the Wild. I really liked when Buck took control over Spitz when they were fighting and gained the leadership. I also really liked that Buck was reunited with is wild brother at the end. What I really disliked is that they had John Thornton killed; he could have just went home and left buck in the Klondike for that’s where his heart belonged. I also really disliked that they didn’t have Charlie in the book, even though he was in the movie. And if I could change anything out of the book I would most likely have Spitz come back for revenge because he escaped from the huskies and recovered. That’s it for my most liked and disliked parts, and also what I would change if I could change something, all in the Call of the Wild book.
I did not like the book The Call Of The Wild because in the first two or three chapters after buck gets adopted by Francois the book repeats itself over and over again. Also every time something that should kill Buck, he breaks through and lives with minor inguries. I liked the book because Buck shone through all the other dogs he was brave, loving, and always did what his master told him too.
John S. Mann identifies the reason behind the popularity of Jack London’s The Call of the Wild as the use of “doubles” or pairings of antithetical characters and plot elements. This theme also stands behind the heavily discussed topic of the correlation between man and dog. London’s utilization of Buck, the main character, and his human perspective allows for the relatable connection the readers experience. The theme of double is also used to explore the effects of civilization and the natural on Buck, which are later discussed within this article. The influence nature has on Buck prevents him from returning to civilization and allows for the connection to his savage ways. Mann establishes this conflict and parallels it with the outer conflict
In my opinion what made Call of the Wild a good book was for one the fighting like when, Buck and Spitz got into a fight and then Buck killed Spitz, or when Buck aproched Soleks from his blind side and Buck got hit in the face by soleks, and when a hole bunch of huskeis killed Curly ,and when a pack of Huskies ataced camp and eat all of the food. The second reason I lthuoght this book was a good book was the adventure for example,
