Taking risks can be a difficult choice in life. A person doesn’t know where that could lead him/her to. Taking risks is like jumping off a burning building. What that means is that taking risks isn’t just straightforward. It is sometimes necessary to take a chance because it could lead a person to somewhere good. An example of a person that took a chance is Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan had a saying that was “Never give up”. When Michael Jordan was growing up, he wasn’t good at basketball. However, when he took the risk of falling down and having an injury, it lead him to becoming a famous basketball player. Basically, Michael Jordan took a chance. Another example of a person that took a chance is Rosa Parks. When Rosa Parks refused to
First , bold action worth the risk because you want to be brave and you have to take the risk. In Flight of Icarus Daedalus told Icarus that not flight to high not fly too high and not to low. Icarus brave and flight high into the sky thought that he know how to flight. Icarus kept flight and flight to the sun it hot and melt the wax and the feather fall down. People said Icarus take the risk and flight high up into the sky. Bold action are worth the reward.
The short story “The Leap” by Louise Erdrich implies that sometimes leaps and risks need to be taken. The narrator starts off the story focusing on her blind mother, who was a circus performer, and then begins to realize how her mother had always taken risks in her life. The narrator recalls stories of her mother taking leaps and risks. For example, one day when her mother was working as part of a trapeze act in a circus show, a freak lightning bolt struck the tent pole during a performance. Unfortunately, her mother’s hands did not meet her husband’s, so she took off her blindfold and, instead of latching on to her husband and leading herself to her death, she changed direction, “twisted towards a heavy wire and . . . managed to hang on”
There are many reasons why people take risks even though it is crazy and impossible. For example, in the memoir, “The Other Side of the Sky”, it shows that Farah Ahmedi is climbing a mountain with a prosthetic leg. In the fictional story, “Rikki-tikki-tavi”, in this story the mongoose, Rikki-tikki-tavi takes the risk of going into a snake 's burrow which has a high possibility that he will be killed. In the poem, “The Song of Wandering Aengus”, Aengus goes on a crazy mission that might take his whole life to accomplish which is to find the “glimmering girl” because he is in love with that girl. Aengus wanted to find the “glimmering girl” that he in love with, while Rikki-tikki-tavi and Farah Ahmedi wanted
Hey there! Taking bold actions are risky. Some people might think risks are worth the rewards but i really don't think they are. The 2 myths Arachne and flight of Icarus are examples showing why risks are not worth the rewards.
Without taking risks or making bold actions I may not have the friends I have today. By taking risks you can influence other people and their decisions that they make. Rosa Parks took the risk of not giving up her seat for the white man on the bus. Without taking the risk of refusing to give her seat up this may never have helped the civil right movement and I may not have some of the friends I have today. By taking this risk sure there was some negative things about it but in the end everything worked out and she not only helped herself but other people around her.
Why would someone take a risk? Is it not easier just to accept what one already has; but, suppose that what one has is not satisfying. Maybe, just maybe, that is why people strive to do more, to get more, to be more. Stanley Pierce, in the story "Call of the Klondike: A True Gold Rush Adventure," did just that. He faced the rigors of bone-chilling weather that could take his life at any moment in search of gold just so he could be rich. Farah Ahmedi, in her memoir "The Other Side of the Sky," climbed a mountain on a prosthetic leg to reach freedom from her war-torn home in Afghanistan. Finally, Annie Johnson, in her biographical essay "New Directions," started a business on a shoe-string budget so she could support her family due to the
Taking risks allows you to push beyond your limits. We all have a comfort zone where we'd like to stay and think we are entitled to certain luxuries. When you take risks, you can change that way of thinking, establish new limits, improve your ability to succeed in society. Jeannette lived an adventurous life, and many nights didn’t even eat. She was still the head of the schools newspaper and still received amazing grades. Who would have known that a little girl that lived in a old broken down house on 93 Little Hobart Street would have received a full scholarship to an Ivy League College. This was accomplished though her desire for freedom, she had the will to reach out for what she desired. All she had to do was put her mind to it, and she could become the richest person in the world if she wanted to. The inspiring Benjamin Franklin once stated, “Those who surrender freedom for security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.” We took a poll on regular elementary school students, and asked them what have they learned on their own. They all stated similar answer which related to the following, “Many times we learn the trick and the trade of real life, but some of my friends are confined to staying inside and being secure. I always want to go outside and learn something new.” The parents that put a burden on their children by making them stay indoors are
Beowulf set his ego aside and hurdled into the face of danger in order to defeat a greater evil and liberate the people of Heorot from the demonic grasp of Grendel. The crew aboard the Challenger brought America together and helped us insure the safety of future astronauts. Tom pushed his body to the edge to live the life he dreamed of. Risks are imperative in life. Even beginning life, they are our instinct. We learn to crawl despite the bruises on our knees. We learn to walk no matter how many falls we endure. As we become further aware of the world around us, somewhere along the way, we experience failure; at that point, many people attempt to eradicate most risks from their life. But where would we be without our sense of exploration, our willingness to try new things? In order to push one’s boundaries, move forward as a society, and give purpose to life people must be willing to take risks.

In addition to fostering creativity, risk-taking may help to increase daringness when it comes to new opportunities. In the article, “The Science—and Art—of Taking Risks”, the author states that “we evolved to experience and appraise physical and emotional danger in the same part of the brain (the limbic system).” People who don’t experience risks as a child are less likely to develop the ability that lets them discern emotional fear from physical danger. While this by no means says that a mother should throw her three-year-old into a burning building to diminish his fear of fire, sliding down a ten feet tall slide at a park could be the difference between being able to take a new job that involves flying across the ocean or declining because of
