Minimum Driving Age

High school is one of the most important years of a person’s life because you learn the major responsibilities that are in life. Driving being within the top responsibilities. My state legislature is considering raising the minimum driving age from 16 to 18. I disagree with this decision. There are many reasons why high school students need their license as early as the age of 16.

Once I turned 16 years old I started learning the basic rules of the road and driving. I was learning many things without even having to get on the road before I was ready. I was taught by my parents whom which have been driving for 20 years and more with a license. I had to learn the basic fundamentals of how to be responsible for myself and others before getting on the road with other drivers. Once I got enough practice I was driving on the road with supervision until I was able to handle driving on my own. Of course I had restrictions on where I can go and what time I have to be back by. The restrictions didn’t even have to be by law it could be from parents as well. But coming from someone that has been driving for about a year now I believe the driving age should not be raised.

People say it's unfair for teenagers who could drive now have to rely on parents or family members. These teens would be driven by drivers who are older and more experienced.

Teens at 16 usually begin to drive because they think it is "cool" to be driving around. They truly do not know how much of a risk they put them self In. I highly agree to raise the driving age to 18 and here is my reasons why; teens become safety drivers at the age of 18 also, teens at 16 should not be driving Finally, teens at 16 will abuse the privilege that their parents let them have. Students become safety drivers at the age of 18. Teens at 18 become more responsible about their actions. 18 year olds will take the time to study and learn well about the roads and how dangerous it can be. Teens are turning 16 and now it's time for everyone to get there license and some get their permit. I feel like the driving age should not be raised because once we are older then we will be more scared to get on the road and drive. From my perspective, I feel scared to drive even though i have my permit, its really difficult for me to get on the freeway. Our permit is a way for us to learn and as we grow wiser we will be mature and take driving as a responsibility. As we grow mature we are able to get the license so we can be out and become conscious of our actions.

I think that the driving age should stay the same. One reason is that I think that if they are 16 they are old enough to drive. They have been through drivers’ education so they all should know what they are doing when they are driving. Also there parents should have already had them out practicing driving when they’re not in drivers education. I just feel that they are already old enough to be driving.

The legal driving age should be changed to 18. The driving age should not be raised to 18. I think this because i feel that bad driving is not because of teenagers. Bad driving can come from anyone who isn't paying attention to the road of any age. People also over look the elderly and the dangers they can cause to the road. They can be invloved in terrible accidents and can stop up traffic.

Eighteen year old will be more responsible , mature , and educated to be driving the roads better then a 16 year old. Most eighteen year olds have a job rather than 16 year , so that they can pay there own insurance. Furthermore, with more teen fatalities on the road each year the number of death reported to 9/11 . This is a bad idea because how can teens that are employed go to work. I don’t have a job but other teenagers are employed. Every teen cannot catch a ride with their parents. A lot of parents are very busy. So that is one reason why that is a horrible idea.

The legal driving age should not be raised to 18. Firstly, Teens should be able to be independent. They don’t need the help of their parents forever. Secondly, teens shouldn’t need to practice for more than a year. Last, teens aren’t the only ones getting in accidents. Anyone else in the world can too, no matter what age.
