Minors all over the world have accomplished great things using social media, but majority of minors use it to be unproductive and mean. Sadly social media is full of negative comments that can potentially affect a persons life. The increase in use of technology and social media has decreased minors productivity and therefore increased obesity. Minors should not have access to social media, because its taking over their lives and therefore bringing them bad consequences. Social media has no way to confirm a persons age, name or true appearance. According to a study about 80% of Americans lie about their and "spice" up their accounts when creating one. Minors can lie about their age and therefore watch or do anything they wish to do.Minors are …show more content…
Sites like Google, Ask, Yahoo and many others will answer any question. These sites often help minors with their homework, some sites will even provide all the answers to the entire assignment. The availability of sites like these minors slack on their work. Minors won't worry about their homework until the last minute. Minors know the answers to their homework are on the internet, therefore no effort or actual thinking is put to it. Social media does not only encourage slacking, but it also brings no good to their health, they're not being productive at all. Social media has many interesting things. Things raging from videos, games, movies and personalized accounts, there's something for everyone. Many people are and others can get addicted to social media and its contents. People can spend an entire day hooked on their screen without noticing. Social media is now a big contribution and a reason for the increase of obesity, people prefer to stay home using social media instead of socializing outside of it. Social media can be a great source of help and start of many new inventions. On the other side when social media usage is abused there's bad results. Over usage of social media can affect a persons sense of sight, the radiation of a phone can even cause cancer. Social media just like drugs can get addicting and affect a persons life. When a person abuses of social media many complications may come to their life. Problems like depression due to isolation and disconnecting from the world when using social media to sickness due to lack of sleep for using it rather than
Even with the dangerous developments in social media over the past several years, many parents have chosen to allow their children to use these sites despite age restrictions. There are three reasons to argue for age restrictions on social media sites: lack of supervision by parents, targeting of children by pedophiles, and the prevalence of children falsifying their age. The ability of pedophiles to conceivably target children with social media proves that this is an issue that parents need to examine so that they may better protect their children. The threat from pedophiles causes an enormous problem for millions of children on social media sites. Unfortunately, Western Daily Press states that “Pedophiles can get away with grooming young teenagers on social media sites.” My essay will argue that age restrictions need to be in place, and additional regulations should ensure that law enforcement agencies have the tools required to supervise underage children 's use of social media, including Facebook and Twitter. Quoting from Business Wire, “three out of four parents feel that social network sites are not protecting children.” According to Irish Independent, “four out of ten children falsify their age” when using social media. I will also argue that additional research on this topic can be used to raise the awareness of parents, and can also help to alert the children themselves to the danger. My essay will also examine questions, such as: How can social media sites protect
Every 4 out of 5 minors do not utilize privacy settings on their social media. Meaning their accounts are completely open to the public and entirely accessible to complete strangers. It is a very taboo topic to talk about but sex offenders can be stalking and waiting on any minor social media. Many minors tend to share anything and close to everything about their lives on their social media. Due to this fact most of them do not apply privacy settings whilst oversharing and posting personal information, giving enormous amounts of access to these sexual predators, therefore putting these minors at great risk. Although , there are some minors that use social media appropriately and properly. But, even those few Instagram accounts or tumblr blogs that belong to minors do seem to be used exactly the way they should be, they still aren’t being smart. There are famous blogs and youtube channels belonging to minors that are plastered all over the internet. These minors are not being completely safe. They are sharing and posting some very personal information to their 24K followers with no regard to practicing safety at
Social media allows minors to connect and interact with others. They learn to be social with others and make friends. Minors tend to be very shy and sometimes self conscious of themselves. Them being introduced to social media gives them a chance to open up an express themselves, once again with limits. In addition to this, it also allows minors
Minors use social media to keep up with updates about books, movies, TV shows, and celebrities. A high percentage of bloggers are girls and boys, myself included, use social media solely to keep up with celebrities, books, TV shows, and movies. Most teenagers today are interested in being updated on books they read, shows they watch, and celebrities
About 80% of teenagers today, have social media and approximately 40% of social media is used for communicating. Some of the popular social sites today may include Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and Facebook. I believe minors should be allowed to have social media because it has become a major part of today’s way of living by entertainment and has become a major form of communication.
People have used cell phones since they first came out, and many people can go using them all night without getting enough.I believe minors should use social media because it's how everyone communicates and know what's going on in the world.
Minors should use social media because it gives them a social life. CNN says that most people communicate over social media and interact with others, like their friends or just random people. If CNN says that people everywhere talk on social media then minors should be able to interact as well so they can be informed about what’s going on and do what everyone else does. In addition minors use social media so they can make
Minors and social media is a big concern today but we need to understand the background information of how minors use it, and how it has helped them to make a living out of it without struggles. In addition, some minors don't understand the dangers of it and why its important to be precautious when it comes to living in the internet world, because it can harm them permanently. I believe that minors should have access to social media for things that may help them throughout life.
Every day minors get involve in web pages and social media which may sound as a bad
One reason to let minors use social media is for communication use. A minor might use their web pages to communicate with family that might not live in the same place they live. Minors use social media to be able to communicate with people all over the world. In addition to minors being able to communicate with family elsewhere, minors can also use web pages for making friends. Minors use web pages to make new friends
Children are often seen as immature and incapable of making good decisions, and therefore are thought to not be able to have social media. While there may be some truth to that, we must keep in mind that they are only as mature as they are raised to be. A news story released in 2011 talks about a 13 year old girl who was abducted by a 46 year old man she had met online who she believed to be 15 years old. It was later released that both her mother and her father had no clue that she was even on the social media site where she met the man and had never even cared to check up on her activities since they were hardly ever present in her life anyways. Because she was never raised to know any better, this horrible incident occurred. While this does occur rarely to
Kids under 12 should not be able to have social media accounts . Using fake information is called catfishing , catfishing is a deceptive activity involving a person making a sock puppet social media for very bad reasons.
Social media is expanding due to its popularity; however it may be used for many different reasons. Many minors use it as a form of entertainment and interaction between friends and even other people around the world. Although minors use social media as a form of entertainment and interaction, nevertheless minors should not be able to use social media because it causes health issues, exposes them to explicit content, and promotes violence.
Social media is extremely addictive as it provides immediate and satisfying rewards (through the release of hormones) with very little effort. Your brain automatically begins to crave it more and more as you desire these chemical stimulations. Sounds like a drug right? Some studies even show that around 5%-10% of users find it difficult to control the amount of time they spent online and literally cannot log off. So although social media stimulates our brain and sends chemicals that make us feel great - it’s harmful to our real life relationships and distances us from the connections we have around us, often times becoming a distraction to young people which can deter them from their schoolwork and affect their ability to interact with people face to face.
Some people argue that social media is bad for kids, or teenagers, because of many reasons. Some reasons include cyberbullies,
