• Ensure the child knows that the best thing is not to retaliate.

• If bullying persists the Head teacher will involve the parents in improving the situation.
Attendance
A letter will be sent to the parents of any child identified as having attendance problems informing them of the school’s concerns and offering support to resolve any problems that may be preventing a child from attending. The child’s attendance will be closely monitored and if after a two week period there appears to be no improvement the parents of the child will be invited to a meeting with the head teacher to discuss the issue and hopefully resolve any problems preventing the child from attending. If the parents do not attend the meeting or after the meeting the attendance of the child does not improve a formal referral to the EWO (education welfare officer) will be made.

You would approach the class teacher with your concern. If the teacher disregards it you would still need to report it as you have a responsibility to that child or young person. You would report it to the relevant person above the teacher until the concern has been reported correctly.

1.1 explain how legislation, frameworks, codes of practice and policies relating to positive behaviour are applied to own working practice
1.1 Legislation is a set of laws that have been created by the government to make sure all childcare settings are run correctly. To promote positive behaviour, legislation’s such as the Children Act 1989, Human Rights Act 1998, Every Child Matters 2004, Equality Act 2010 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 are followed by the setting. These Act’s include rules and regulations that a setting is required to follow in order to promote positive behaviour.
The behaviour policy outlines several procedures for dealing with inappropriate behaviour. Firstly verbal warnings are given, and the child is given chance to apologise and choose to change their behaviour. Sanctions for continued bad behaviour can escalate from time spent on the thinking chair/ missed playtime, to being sent to a senior member of staff. In cases of extreme bad behaviour or physically violence a log will be noted into the class behaviour book and parents will be informed. Sustained inappropriate behaviour may lead to a behaviour agreement, discussed with the parents and child present where the child will promise to change their behaviour. Breaking this agreement, or other very extreme cases may lead to exclusion from school, which will be handled by the head teacher.

In this case the teacher should inform the head teacher about this incident and if may involve the police if necessary.

Children who have been bullied at school could at one time come home and get away from their tormentors but now with such technologies available there is the all too unfortunate reality of their problems coming home with them in the form of texts, emails and abuse through other websites.

Young people should have positive relationships with primary care givers, education staff and peers as this leads to higher levels of self-worth, high self-esteem and a positive self- image. This positive outlook on life may lead to that person becoming more approachable and popular individual. Structure, routine and boundaries should be put in place and positive reinforcement is to be used, this allows an understanding of the young person’s position within their society and leads to a more settled and well balanced individual. Positive and dependable role models allow the young person to model the behaviours of well-balanced, well behaved and already resilient individuals. Positive encouragement offered to young people may lead to higher levels of self-esteem and enables the young person to develop an optimistic attitude about learning new skills and having the ability to keep trying when things become challenging. Regular attendance to education should be encouraged, ‘Schooling may be vital in enabling children to make the best of
My health goal was to change my eating habits. I chose this goal because I have a bad habit of not eating as well as I should. Although I usually do not eat fast food, I eat a lot of carbs. I was raised in an Italian family so macaroni and pizza are my two worst enemies. I figured that if I used this project to get rid of my bad eating habits, I would have an easier time eating healthy after this class ends. Before starting the project I realized that there will be challenges, but this project was not meant to be simple. If behavior change was simple, then anyone would be able to change behavior whenever they wanted to.
