Bacterial infections are divided into two types: Gram-positive and Gram-negative. The bacteria's reaction to the Gram stain is used to diagnose the categories. Gram stain is purple in colour. The bacteria in a sample will either stay purple or change pink or red when the stain reacts with them. Gram-positive bacteria are those that remain purple. Gram-negative bacteria glow pink or crimson when exposed to light. Different sorts of illnesses are caused by the two categories:
