The lessons learned have been valuable; they provided great insight into making
decisions and navigating challenges more effectively by understanding the impact on society and
individuals, developing empathy, and a broader understanding of diverse perspectives that can
enhance better relationships and interactions with others. The passage of the Civil Rights Act of
1964 outlawed discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sеx, or national origin—
ending segregation in public places and making it illegal for employers to discriminate аgаinst
any employee due to their race—and the Voting Rights Act of 1965 outlawed discrimination on
the basis of race or color in voting. The Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s was an important
turning point for the United States, bringing about profound changes in the nation’s politics,
social culture, and economy. The movement’s focus on civil rights, economic equality, and social
justice achieved remarkable progress in the advancement of racial inequality. I am comfortable
knowing that I have the freedom to vote, speech, and the opportunity to fight for my dreams in a
country where my rights are respected.

How has this course affected you today in your daily life and/or work?
Understanding the history of the United States was an enriching experience. I grew up in
Mexico, and I have been in this country for a few years. I enjoyed the class and all the
