This paper will cover the comparison of two cars manufactured by two heavy weight American car companies. Based on the research that was done, it determined that the Ford Mustang wins in two of the three categories in which it was judged. This comparison will cover three separate categories: sales, performance, and pop culture. This has been a debate for over fifty years and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Even after these two companies disappear there will still be debate on which is greater. All citations are from the manufacturer’s official page, major automotive magazines, and performance branches of each vehicle. Over the past fifty three years Ford Motor Company has sold a total of 9,606,704 Mustangs. (Seaman, 2015) The 2014 Mustang GT500 is the latest high performance vehicle offered by Ford Motor Company. It is equipped with a 5.8 liter supercharged dual overhead cam V8 that produces 662 horsepower and 632 pound feet of torque. The coupe edition weighs right at 3845 pounds.(Words, 2015) This version of the Mustang completed the quarter mile in 11.6 seconds and finished at the speed of 125.7 miles per hour.(Words, 2015) The fastest time recorded by the GT500 at the Nürburgring was 7:39.280 with an average speed of 100 miles per hour.(Rall, 2013) It is important to note that the Mustang was quicker and faster than both the Camaro and Corvette when it was released in 2013. Generally, Ford has always been at the forefront when it comes to technology, design, and performance. The Mustang has been featured multiple times in American pop culture. The most notable feature was in the movie “Bullitt” starring Steve McQueen. This movie was known for the epic car chase between a black 1968 Dodge Charger and a 1968 Ford Mustang GT. This paper is an evaluative look at why the Chevrolet Corvette is one of the greatest sports cars in the world. Sports cars can be judged in three areas; cost, performance, and comfort, each area will be evaluated as to why these criteria are important, with examples shown to for definition. The claim does not make clear what measurement for determining “values” is to be used, but we will proceed with the assumption that Consumer Report’s Value Score is an accurate representation of real-world value. Because we determined that the Size category and the two related ‘dummy’ variables did not have a significant relationship with the Value Score (which caused their subsequent deletion from the equation), and also because Size is largely represented by Cost/Mile—the choice was made to analyze the coefficient for Cost/Mile to help come to a conclusion. There are many differences between different car manufacturers. However, Chevrolet and Ford are among the top but the rivalry of these two companies will continue to challenge each other to a new and better product. Chevrolet and Ford are two very different companies that always try to compete in making the best automobile. My opinion is that Ford has a good looking truck, but Chevrolet has a better overall powertrain. So Chevrolet is my own personal choice if I were buying a new truck.

Both designed, founded, and rooted in Detroit, Michigan, the Ford Mustang and the Corvette have continued to fuel the chase for the label of America’s true muscle car. The question over the years has been, why and how do consumers choose which to own, and which one is our “bald eagle”? Investigating deeper into the roots of each American superpower, it all began with introduction of something that would change the automotive industry forever. “Corvette: Dream Car Come True”, is an article that highlights the beginning of the car movement in the United States: the birth of Chevrolet’s Corvette. “Born in 1953 at the General Motors plant in Flint, Michigan, the Corvette grew up on the raceway and has ruled the road ever since” (Seiden 14). The article also goes on to mention that “the Corvette is not for racers only. True car lovers own Corvette cars for everyday driving… and the highest performance standards have been built into every model” (Seiden 14). Like the Mustang GT, the Camaro SS has a huge fuel-injected V-8. The engines on each of these living beasts, pump out well over 250 horsepower. Both muscle cars have excellent 0-60 times in the five-second range and with quarter mile times within the fourteen-second range, give or take a second. There are drawbacks to every good thing. The Camaro and Mustang are primarily two seaters with minimal room in the back for an adult. Children are perfect fits, although adults can ride in the back, it makes for a very cramped ride. Both of the muscle cars are excellent examples of competitive pricing, with the Mustang GT retailing for $25,140 and the Camaro for $29,656. This just goes to show that you don't need to spend more than $75,000 for a top of the line sports car. The Camaro and Mustang out perform some of their more expensive brother and sisters like the Viper.
Next, came the Chevrolet Camaro. When the team of specialists and engineers at GM got there head together, they formed one of the best sports cars to date: The Chevrolet Camaro. When the Chevrolet Camaro was first introduced back in 1967, it was not thought very much of. The Ford Mustang had been out on the market now for quite some time and had made a very good impression on its buyers and the spectators. After General Motors pushed the sales campaign and got the first few buyers to commit they were hooked from day one. The word of mouth quickly spread of the sheer enjoyment of the Camaro vs. the Mustang. The Chevrolet Camaro provided a cheaper and better all around alternative to the Mustang. The Camaro came with loads more options and not to mention the stand features alone out did the Mustang's. The biggest reason for sales increase was the power delivered by the Camaro. The Camaro was able to astonish the buyers with loads of power, given the time period, for a cheaper price of the Mustang. Chevrolet too competes with Ford in the bigger and better race to a super sports car. Once such creation is a 600 HP Big Block Camaro. The Camaro was developed as more of a show car to show people what can be accomplished with aftermarket products as well as the time and effort to put into a car.
