XXVIII. Diana shineth in the heavens clear

Robert Tofte (1561–1620)

DIANA shineth in the heavens clear;

Because from purest Sun she takes her light:

And Fair, she shews that of DIANA here

On Earth, doth borrow beauty passing bright.

The virtue then that is infused in her,

She from DIANA hath; or else from none:

For other thews do all in her concur;

And unto her beholding are alone.

O wonder strange of Nature to reveal!

She, DIAN’ gives; yet doth from DIAN’ steal.
