Alexander Kaufmann (18171893)
Kaufmann, Alexander (kouf’män). A German poet; born at Bonn, May 14, 1817; died at Wertheim, May 1, 1893. Popular among his lyrics have been: ‘The Bride,’ ‘About Midnight,’ ‘Morning’; of his ballads: ‘King Wenzel,’ ‘The Stolen Steed,’ ‘Lifthilde.’ Of several volumes of verse, the best was ‘Under the Vines’ (1815).
