Alfred Friedmann (18451923)
Friedmann, Alfred (frēd’män). A German poet and story-teller; born at Frankfort-on-the-Main, Oct. 26, 1845; died in 1923. Among his poems are: ‘Merlin. Orpheus’ (1874), two ballads; ‘Biblical Stars’ (1875), comprising three idylls; ‘Love’s Fire Test. Angioletta’; ‘Lays of the Heart’ (1888). He is the author of many novels, including: ‘Two Marriages’; ‘Suddenly Rich’ (1891); ‘The Wild Rose’ (1893); ‘The Reliable’ (1897).
