Anna Luise Karsch (17221791)
Karsch or Karshin, Anna Luise (kärsh or kärsh’in). A German poet; born near Schwiebus, Dec. 1, 1722; died at Berlin, Oct. 12, 1791. Self-taught, of low birth and free life, her poetic merit was but slight, though she has been extravagantly called “the German Sappho.”
