Ausiàs March (1397?1459)
March, Ausiàs or Augustin (märch). A celebrated Spanish poet; born in 1397?; died about 1459. He is the best of all the Catalan poets. Of his works now extant are ninety-three ‘Love Songs’; eight ‘Laments’; fourteen ‘Moral Poems’; a fine ‘Song of Devotion’; etc. He was been called “the Petrarch of Catalonia.”
