Baron George de Rosen (18051860)
Rosen, George, Baron de (rō’zen). A Russian poet; born at Petrograd in 1805; died in 1860. A friend and imitator of Pushkin, his ‘Three Poems’ (1827) met with immediate success as did the succeeding volumes, including ‘The Mystery’ (1828); ‘The Virgin among the Angels’ (1828); and ‘The Birth of Ivan the Terrible.’ He also wrote tragedies, operas, and translations.
