Catherine Parr Strickland Traill (1802–1899)

Traill, Catherine Parr (Strickland). An English writer, sister of Agnes; born in London, Jan. 9, 1802; died at Lakeville, Canada, Aug. 29, 1899. She removed to Canada in 1833, and made her home for many years at Lakeville, ON. Among her works are: ‘The Backwoods of Canada’ (London, 1835); ‘Canadian Crusoes’ (1852); ‘Ramblings in the Canadian Forests’ (1854); ‘Afar in the Forest’ (1869); ‘Studies of Plant Life’ (1884); ‘Pearls and Pebbles’ (1895).
