Charles Dassoucy (1605–1677)
Dassoucy or d’Assoucy, Charles Coypeau, called (dä-sö-sē’). A French burlesque poet; born in Paris, Oct. 16, 1605; died there (?), 1677. He acquired notoriety as the writer of ‘Ovid in a Good Humor,’ and of a burlesque of Claudian’s ‘Rape of Proserpine’; but he is remembered mainly because of a contemptuous allusion to him by Boileau.
