Charles Taber Congdon (18211891)
Congdon, Charles Taber. An American journalist; born in New Bedford, MA, April 7, 1821; died in New York City, Jan. 18, 1891. He edited for a time the organ of the People’s Party in the Dorr Rebellion in Rhode Island, 1842. From 1857 to 1882 he was on the editorial staff of the New York Tribune, and a frequent contributor of critical and literary articles to the magazines. In 1861 he published a poem; in 1869 ‘Tribune Essays’; and in 1880 ‘Reminiscences of a Journalist.’
