Christian Thomasius (1655–1728)

Thomasius, Christian (tō-mäs’yös). A German legist; born at Leipsic, Jan. 1, 1655; died professor of jurisprudence at Halle, Sept. 23, 1728. Among his writings are: ‘Serious but Lively and Sensible Remarks on all Sorts of Juristic Works’ (1720); ‘Reasonable and Christianlike but not Pharisaical Considerations on all Sorts of Philosophical and Juristic Works’ (3 vols., 1723); ‘History of Wisdom and Folly.’
