Constant Guéroult (1814–1882)
Guéroult, Constant (gā-rö’). A French writer of sensational fiction; born in Elbeuf, Feb. 11, 1814; died at Paris, Nov. 29, 1882. ‘The Stranglers of Paris,’ written partly in collaboration, is his representative effort; but ‘The Beggar of Toledo,’ ‘Captain Zamore,’ ‘The Depths of Paris,’ and ‘The Marcellange Affair’ are powerful tales of the sensational order, and gave rise to a school of imitators.
