Édouard Brisebarre (1818–1871)
Brisebarre, Édouard Louis (brēz-bär’). A French dramatist (1818–71); born at Paris. He made a brilliant theatrical success with his first piece, ‘Cagliostro’s Vial’ (1835). Thereafter he produced more than 100 dramas and low comedies, mostly in collaboration with other writers. His most notable productions are: ‘A Bengal Tiger’; ‘Leonard,’ which had an almost unexampled “run”; ‘The Mad Cow.’
