Edmund John Armstrong (18411865)
Armstrong, Edmund John. An Irish poet; born in Dublin, July 23, 1841; died at Kingstown, Feb. 24, 1865. Brother of the George Francis Armstrong. His most elaborate poem is ‘The Prisoner of Mount St. Michael’ (1863), a romantic tale of passion and crime, the scene being suggested by the author’s rambles in France in 1862. Next in importance is ‘Ovoca,’ an idyllic poem, partly dramatic, partly narrative in form.
