Edward Bellamy (18501898)
Bellamy, Edward. An American writer; born in Chicopee Falls, MA, March 29, 1850; died there, May 22, 1898. He is best known by his novel ‘Looking Backward’ (1888), a socialistic work, of which an immense number of copies were sold in two years. His other books are: ‘Six to One: a Nantucket Idyl’ (1878); ‘Dr. Heidenhoff’s Process’ (1880); ‘Miss Ludington’s Sister’ (1884); ‘Equality’ (1897); and ‘The Wonder Children’ (1906).
