Edward Carpenter (1844–1929)

Carpenter, Edward. An English poet and writer on social problems, born at Brighton, England, in 1844; died in 1929. He wrote: ‘England’s Ideal’; ‘The Drama of Love and Death’; ‘The Healing of Nations’; ‘Towards Democracy’; ‘My Days and Dreams’ (1916), an autobiography. In his verse he is a follower of Whitman.
