Edward Rowland Sill (18411887)
Sill, Edward Rowland. An American poet; born in Windsor, CT, April 29, 1841; died in Cleveland, OH, Feb. 27, 1887. In 1874 he became professor of English literature in the University of California, where he remained until 1882, subsequently removing to Cleveland. His poetical works are included in ‘The Hermitage, and Other Poems’ (1867); ‘The Venus of Milo, and Other Poems’ (1883); and ‘Poems,’ posthumously issued (1888).
