Francis Miles Finch (18271907)
Finch, Francis Miles. An American poet, and a judge of the U.S. District Court; born in Ithaca, NY, June 9, 1827; died in 1907. He graduated at Yale; and is the author of the well-known lyrics ‘Nathan Hale’ and ‘The Blue and the Gray,’ and a popular college song beginning “Floating away like the fountain’s spray.”
