Francis Newton Thorpe (1857–1926)

Thorpe, Francis Newton. An American author and lawyer; born in Swampscott, MA, April 16, 1857; died in 1926. He was professor of political science at the University of Pittsburgh. Among his works are: ‘The Government of the People of the United States’ (1889); ‘The Story of the Constitution’ (1891); ‘The Constitutional History of the United States, 1765–1895’; ‘The Spoils of Empire’ (1903); ‘The Divining Rod’ (1905).
