Francis Patrick Kenrick (17961863)
Kenrick, Francis Patrick. A distinguished American Roman Catholic prelate and theological writer; born at Dublin, Ireland, Dec. 3, 1796; died at Baltimore, MD, July 6, 1863. He founded the seminary of St. Charles Borromeo in Philadelphia in 1832; became archbishop of Baltimore, 1851; honorary primate of the United States, 1859. Among his works were: ‘Dogmatic Theology’ (4 vols., 1839–40); ‘Moral Theology’ (3 vols., 1841–43). He also published a revision of the Douai English Bible, with notes.
