Franz von Elsholtz (1791–1872)
Elsholtz, Franz von (els’hōlts). A German dramatist (1791–1872); born at Berlin. He won some fame with his first theatrical piece, ‘Come Hither,’ a travesty; and in 1827 was appointed organizer and director of the Court Theatre at Gotha. ‘The Court Lady’ was much admired by Goethe. His plays are published in three volumes, but not now acted.
