Gentil Theodoor Antheunis (18401907)
Antheunis, Gentil Theodoor (ä-tė-nē’). A Flemish poet; born at Oudenaarde, Sept. 9, 1840; died in 1907. At first a teacher in his native place and at Dendermonde, he afterwards became a justice of the peace in Brussels. His lyrics, excelling in euphony and tender sentiment, have frequently been set to music. They appeared in collections: ‘From the Heart’ (1875); ‘Songs and Poems’ (1874); ‘Life, Love, and Song’ (1879).
