Crabbe, George. An English poet; born in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, Dec. 24, 1754; died at Trowbridge, Wiltshire, Feb. 3, 1832. His poems have to do with the life and sorrows of the toiling poor, and English poverty is portrayed in ‘The Village’; ‘The Parish Register’; ‘The Borough’; ‘Tales in Verse’; etc. (See Critical and Biographical Introduction).
