Gómez Antonio Enríquez (1600?1663?)
Enríquez, Gómez Antonio (en-rē’keth) [Enriquez de Paz]. A Spanish poet; born about 1600 at Segovia; died about 1663. His Jewish blood brought him persecution and he fled to Amsterdam. The dramas ‘Cardinal de Albornóz’ and ‘Fernan Mendez Pinto,’ written before exile, found great popular favor; his later ones were entered under the name of Calderon, and were mostly very successful.
