Guillaume de Lorris (fl. 1230)
Guillaume de Lorris (gē-yōm’ dė lō-rēs’). A French poet; born at Lorris, about 1211; died between 1240 and 1260. He appears to have been about twenty-five when he wrote the first part of the ‘Roman de la Rose,’ the typical love-allegory of the Middle Ages. It was later completed at great length by Jean de Meung.
