Joly, Guy (zhō-lē’). A seventeenth-century French writer of memoirs, who came into some prominence during the Fronde, and compiled ‘Memoirs to explain and continue those of the Cardinal de Retz’ (1718),—a curious, readable, and accurate, yet partisan work.
