Henri Houssaye (1848–1911)
Houssaye, Henri (ö-sā’). A French historian and critic, son of Arsène; born in Paris, Feb. 24, 1848; died in 1911. His publications include: ‘History of Alcibiades and the Athenian Republic’ (1875), crowned by the French Academy in 1874; ‘Athens, Rome, and Paris’ (1878); ‘History of the Conquest of Greece by the Romans’ (vol. i., 1885); ‘1814,’ a history of the campaign in France and the Fall of the Empire, published in 1888; ‘Waterloo.’
