Henry Grattan (1746–1820)
Grattan, Henry. An Irish orator and statesman; born in Dublin, June (?) or July (?) 3, 1746; died in London, June 4, 1820. His works, with the exception of the political pamphlets, the ‘Correspondence,’ and ‘Letter on the Irish Union,’ consist wholly of his speeches as the champion of Catholic emancipation and the inviolability of the Irish Parliament.
