De Mille, James. A Canadian novelist; born in St. John, NB, Aug. 1833; died in Halifax, NS, Jan. 28, 1880. He was professor of history and rhetoric in Dalhousie College, Halifax, from 1865 until his death. Among his publications are: ‘The Dodge Club’ (1866); ‘Cord and Creese’ (1867); ‘A Comedy of Terrors’ (1872); ‘The Living Link’ (1874); and many books for boys, including ‘Treasures of the Sea.’ ‘A Strange Manuscript Found in a Copper Cylinder’ was published in 1890.
