Plumptre, James. An English dramatic and miscellaneous writer; born in 1770; died on Jan. 23, 1832, at Great Gransden in Huntingdonshire, where he was rector of a church. Among his writings are: ‘The Coventry Act,’ comedy (1793); ‘Osway,’ tragedy (1795); ‘The Lakers,’ comic opera (1798); ‘A Popular Commentary on the Bible’ (1827).
