Jeremiah Clemens (1814–1865)

Clemens, Jeremiah. An American statesman, lawyer, and novelist; born at Huntsville, AL, Dec. 28, 1814; died there, May 21, 1865. He was U.S. Senator from Alabama (1849–53). He wrote: ‘Bernard Lisle’ (1856); ‘Mustang Grey’ (1858); ‘Tobias Wilson’ (1865); etc.
