Jeremy Bentham (1748–1832)
Bentham, Jeremy. An English writer on ethics and jurisprudence (1748–1832). He was educated for the bar and studied the theory of law. Treatises on Government (1776), Usury (1787), Civil and Penal Legislation (1813), Fallacies (1824), and others, formed his collected works (11 vols., 1843).
