John Peckham (d. 1292)

Peckham, John. An English mediæval theologian; archbishop of Canterbury; died in 1292. He was a voluminous writer on theological and scientific subjects. Among his works are: ‘Common Perspective’; ‘Theory of the Planets.’ In verse he wrote: ‘The Nightingale, Harbinger of Pleasant Weather’; ‘Defence of the Mendicant Friars.’
