Julien de Mallian (1805–1851)

Mallian, Julien de (mä-yä‘). A West Indian dramatist; born in Le Moule, Guadeloupe, 1805; died in Paris, 1851. He gained wide reputation as a writer of comedies and dramas. The most popular are: ‘Two Roses’ (1831), a historical drama of the civil wars in England; ‘The Carpenter’ (1831), a comedy; and ‘The Wandering Jew’ (1834).
