Julius Zupitza (1844–1895)
Zupitza, Julius (tsö’pit-sä). A German student of English speech; born at Oberglogau in Upper Silesia, Jan. 4, 1844; died on July 6, 1895, at Berlin, where he was professor of English language and literature in the university. Among his works are: ‘Introduction to the Study of Middle High German’ (1868); ‘Exercise Book of Old and Middle English’ (1874); ‘Ælfric’s Grammar and Glossary’ (1850); ‘Specimens of All the Accessible Unprinted MSS. of the Canterbury Tales’ (1890).
