Karl Eduard Zachariä von Lingenthal (18121894)
Zachariä von Lingenthal, Karl Eduard (tsä-ċhä-rē’ā fon ling’en-täl). A German writer on jurisprudence; born at Heidelberg, Dec. 21, 1812; died at Grosskmehlen, near Merseburg, June 3, 1894. He is regarded as the founder of the science of Græco-Roman jurisprudence. He wrote ‘Outline of a History of Græco-Roman Jurisprudence’ (1839), ‘History of Græco-Roman Private Right’ (1864); made a collection of ‘Græco-Roman Laws’ (1856–84); and edited Justinian’s ‘Novellæ’ (1881).
