Konrad Celtes (14591508)
Celtes, Konrad (tsel’tes) [the Greek equivalent of his real name, Pickel]. A celebrated German humanist; born in 1459; died in 1508. His most celebrated work is a volume of ‘Odes’ (1513). He did much to promote the study of the classics, and wrote his own poems in Latin.
