Louis Becke (18551913)
Becke, Louis. An Australian author; born in Port Macquarrie, Australia, in 1855; died in 1913. He went to sea at the age of fourteen, and spent his life trading in the South Pacific. His publications are: ‘By Reef and Palm’ (1895); ‘South Sea Stories’ (1896); ‘The Ebbing of the Tide’ (1896); and with W. Jeffrey, ‘A First-Fleet Family’ (1896).
